Gerrard favorite to be next English team captain

Liverpool FC skiper Steven Gerrard is hot favorite to be the next English National Team captain. After the troubles with John Terry the position is now free and it’s most likely that experienced midfielder who is also captain for The Reds will pick this role.

According to bet365 Gerrard is 1.40 favorite with Scott Parker and Gareth Barry being next on the list.

Euro 2012 Playoffs: Montenegro – Czech Republic 15/11/2011

It will be the second and decisive game of Euro 2012 playoff. In the first game last Friday Czech Republic has managed to get a 2:0 win, which puts them in a great position before the kick off.

Montenegro will surely do all to come back from those 2 goals behind and they do have a big chance to do it. Czech Republic is not the team that we used to know with player like Nedved, Koller or Rosicky. The last from the least still plays but is far away from being they key playmaker from the past years.

Montenegro has a very strong team with a number of individuals like Vucinic (Juventus) or Jovetic (Fiorentina). With being two goals behind a win is very likely. Even if they fail to qualify they should win the game and the odds for this outcome are quite high.

Euro 2012 Playoffs: Bosnia – Portugal 11/11/2011

I must admit it was quite a surprise to see Portugal failing to qualify to Euro 2012 straight from group stage. With teams like Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Cyprus in their group they were hot favorites but some games showed that especially with games against strong defenders from Nordics Portuguese stars are not that perfect.

We all know that likes of Ronaldo and Nani can kill any defense in the world but they will definitely struggle against very motivated Bosnia-Herzegovina team.

And don’t forget that Bosnia also has some big stars in their team with Edin Dzeko from Man City the biggest treat.

Portugal is obviously favorite to get to the Euro 2012 but the first game will be very hard for them. Double chance 1X with odds 1.60 from Unibet is a decent gamble.

Euro 2012 Play offs: Czech Republic – Montenegro 11/11/2011

Both teams were unlucky to get such strong opponents in their group stage of qualifiers. Czech Republic couldn’t do much against Spain with World Champions securing a comfortable first place. But Czechs made a good job in finishing second with likes of Scotland and Lithuania left behind. Montenegro did well to finish ahead of Bulgaria, Wales and Switzerland but couldn’t jump ahead of England.

The play offs will be very hard for both teams and if Czech Republic wants to dream about playing in Poland and Ukraine they will need to get a win from their first game at home and they have every power to get it.

Ladbrokes offers a very decent 1.73 for Czech win.

Euro 2012 Qualifiers: Armenia – Macedonia (FYR)

After we managed to get all 4 predictions right last weekend it’s time for some International betting.

Euro 2012 Qualifiers are coming into a decisive round. There is still plenty to play for for most of the teams and what is quite surprising Armenia is among teams that can still get into final tournament.

The team is underestimated by many of punters, which is obviously a big mistake. If you check their results – 14 points out of 8 games with 4 wins and 2 draws they are better than some really classy teams. In their qualifying group they are just behind Russia and Ireland and just ahead of Slovakia, which they’ve beaten in September 4:0.

International Friendlies: Poland – Germany

Poland will face Germany at one of the stadiums prepared for Euro 2012 in Gdansk. The polish national team is in the middle of preparations for the final tournament. As Poles are host country they don’t need to play in qualifiers. Germany on the other hand are the first country that secured a direct entrance to Euro through their group.

Euro2012 Qualifiers: Bulgaria – England

England is on the first spot in their qualifying group but with Montenegro with the same number of points Fabio’s Capello team is still not a sure winner.

Bulgaria has a solid team that managed to get 2 draws in their last games. Especially 1:1 away to Montenegro was a decent result but 0:0 at home against Switzerland is also not a reason to be ashame.

Copa America Final: Uruguay – Paraguay

For some people a surprising final, but in my eyes the success of Uruguay is a process they showed over the last few years and of course also a result of the Brazilian and Argentinean ignorance. Sound hard, I know but it’s a fast that these two countries just stopped the development of their football, full of self-confidence that their individual strength will always be enough to get titles. Also this is a real win for European played football as we have two teams with really non-southamerican way of playing football. Uruguay is playing classic European style and Paraguay looks like Italian defensive Cantenaccio.

If we look at the Uruguay team, we seriously have here the best team of the tournament and there are few players deserving to say their name. Pereira is the perfect example of a modern defensive winger. His defensive skills are great, but at same time he is also attacking from his die and taking part in the offensive action. This is something we also see from Pepe or (in his good days) from Bosingwa.

Next to him there is the fantastic duo of Suarez and Forlan. Suarez is for sure not always an easy character with all his crazy behavior, but he is developing to one of the best strikers worldwide and then we have my absolute favorite player: Forland. He had a really hard season with struggling at Atletico Madrid, but his attitude and danger on the pitch is simply fantastic. He never gives up and even without shooting goals in the tournament, he is creating space for Suarez and the other players.

Paraguay is in the finals without any won match in the 90 minutes. This is surely crazy and I could write a book why they won’t survive the final this way, but I will keep it short. They didn’t play a team like Uruguay in this tournament. I just can’t see them surviving 90 minutes again without a mistake against the offensive potential of Uruguay.

Lineup Uruguay:  Muslera; M. Pereira, Lugano, Victorino, Caceres, A. Pereira; Gonzalez, Perez, Rios; Forlan, Suarez.

Lineup Paraguay: Villar; Da Silva, Veron, Torres, Vera; Barreto, Caceres, Riveros, Estigarribia; Barrios, Valdez

Pick: Asian Handicap -0,5 Uruguay – 2,10 bei bet365.
