Manchester United – Liverpool Betting

Manchester United will face Liverpool in the most interesting game of the next Premier League round. A win from Red Devils will keep them in the championship race, while the Reds also needs points in order to keep their chances for Champions League football next season.

United are currently on 2nd spot, just 2 points behind their local rivals – City. However Citizens are also facing a hard game this weekend with away trip to Aston Villa so the chance is big to get top spot. Liverpool is currently 7th but with just 4 points behind 4th Chelsea. With still quite a few games left in the season it can all change quickly.

Both teams drawn their last Premier League games. Liverpool got 0:0 at home against Tottenham while United came back from 0:3 behind against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

It all seems Manchester is currently a better team but Liverpool will fight hard not to loose at Old Trafford.

Carling Cup: Liverpool – Manchester City (25/01/2012)

It’s time to come back to Carling Cup semi finals with an exciting game between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield Road.

The Reds have won the first one in Manchester after Steven Gerrard’s penalty goal. However they are still far away from getting into the final as Citizens are surely on form and a league win over Tottenham at the weekend has just made their morale better.

Liverpool can’t be that happy with their weekend result as the surprisingly lost to Bolton 1:3. This loss means that The Reds are now on 7th position in the table and winning in Cup might be their only way to Europe for next season. City doesn’t have such problems. They’re leading the table and even if they don’t win the league they can be quite sure of their Champions League qualification.

With this in mind Liverpool has more to play for. No major injury concerns in both teams. Liverpool will have to play without Suarez, who is still banned and Citizens won’t be able to use Toure brothers, who traveled to African Cup of Nations.

Premier League: Bolton – Liverpool (21/01/2012)

Quite interesting fixture at Reebok Stadium in Bolton. A win for home team against such good rivals could potentially mean a big turnaround in their Premier League campaign this season. And it’s not going any good for the moment. Bolton is one of the worst teams in the league with only 16 points out of 21 games. While a win against the Reds could lift them to 16th position but a loss might as well mean a drop to the last one. And looking at the potential of those teams this second scenario looks more likely.

Liverpool will play without banned Suarez and injured Spearing and Lucas. Bolton will have to do without Mears, Holden and Lee Chung-Yong.

Carling Cup: Manchester City – Liverpool (11/01/2012)

After a controversial loss against Manchester United in FA Cup Citizens are facing another decisive game in their domestic cups campaign this time against Liverpool FC in Carling Cup.

Both teams met at Etihad Stadium just last week in their Premier League game. Citizens left no chances to the Reds winning 3:0 after goals from Aguero, Toure and Milner. But even such a win doesn’t necessarily mean that Liverpool has no chances against City.

Roberto Mancini will have some problems with his starting line up. After a red card against United Vincent Kompany is not available as is Kolo and Yaya Toure who have already travelled for African Cup of Nations. The good news for Citizens is the come back of Edin Dzeko.

Liverpool will need to play without Luis Suarez who is serving an eight games ban. This means that their attack will heavily depend on Andy Carroll.

Man City should take advantage of playing at home and get a win here before going for the second game to Anfield Road.

Premier League: Manchester City – Liverpool (03/01/2012)

We’ve seen some shocking results in Premier League during the Christmas break and now we might as well enjoy one of the most interesting fixtures of the season.

Manchester City is not that untouchable as we might though we weeks ago. Defeats against Chelsea and Sunderland and a draw against West Brom means shows that we might be talking about quite serious crisis in Roberto Mancini’s team. But on the other hand a solid win over Liverpool would make it much different.

The Reds are also not in their top form. They did beat Newcastle in their last game and a goal from Steven Gerrard is even better sign for this team but when you look into previous games you would see draws against Blackburn and Wigan, which are surely not making Daglish site proud.

Still Liverpool has the best defense in the league that lost only 15 goals so far. If they manage to keep such strikers like Aguero and Dzeko under control a win in Manchester would surely make a great start of the year.

Citizens haven’t yet lost at home this season and I don’t think they will this time. A draw is more likely, but my pick would be both teams to score with some decent odds from Paddy Power.

Premier League: Liverpool – Newcastle United (30/12/2011)

One of the most interesting games of the last Premier League round this year. Liverpool after failing to win their last 2 games will face Newcastle United in a direct fight for 6th position in the league.

Not long ago the Reds have been very close to getting into top 4 but after draws against Wigan and Blackburn they are now in danger of dropping to 7th.

Newcastle is not impressing in their recent games either. They did win last weekend against Bolton but to do so in their previous 6 Premier League fixtures.

Liverpool can finally play with their captain Steven Gerrard in full fitness, but they will need to do without Luis Suarez who was banned for his Fulham gesture. Would it be a chance for another big name striker Andy Carroll? He should start the game and has a big opportunity to prove his worth to both The Reds and international team pre Euro 2012.

Premier League: Liverpool – Blackburn 26/12/2011

Liverpool has an ambitious plan to get into top 4 before year end and with their fixture it is quite likely. It was a bit destroyed with a 0:0 draw against Wigan on Wednesday but still quite likely. The will now face the worst team in the league – Blackburn and after that they will host Newcastle United at home. With just 2 points behind 4th Chelsea it’s not long way to go.

Blackburn has massive problems. Not only are they on last position with only 10 points in 17 games. What is worse they have a long list of injuries that will make it very difficult to improve their league position. They won’t be able to use Givet, Olsson, Salgado, Grella, Nelsen and Dann while Liverpool will only miss Lucas and long injured Gerrard.

Liverpool is strong favorite to win this one and odds for clear 1 are small (around 1.25). So we will try a half time/full time win with 1.80 from Paddy Power.

Premier League: Liverpool – QPR (10/12/2011)

Liverpool will do all they can to secure 3 points at home after having lost their last Premier League game against Fulham.

It looks that central midfield will be the key problem for Liverpool for this game. Steven Gerrard is still injured and now Jay Spearing is serving a 3 match ban after his latest red card.  Lucas Leiva will probably partner Jordan Henderson but if any of them gets problems the Reds will be in huge problems.

The same formation doesn’t look perfect for QPR with their key playmaker Adel Taarabt to undergo a fitness test before the game.

Probable squads:

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Bellamy, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Suarez, Carroll.

QPR: Cerny, Traore, Ferdinand, Gabbidon, Young, Wright-Phillips, Barton, Faurlin, Mackie, Helguson, Bothroyd.

QPR is doing quite well in the league but away trip to Anfield Road seems just too hard for new comers. Liverpool to win with 1.36 from Paddy Power
