Premier League betting preview 25/02/2012

It’s going to be a very interesting afternoon in English Premier League today. With games like Chelsea – Bolton and Man City – Blackburn we might see some high wins from favorites but on the other hand this season in England is just unpredictable so we might as well see some surprices.

Chelsea – Bolton

Chelsea is an obvious favorite to win. After a surprising loss last weekend at Everton Andre Villas Boas is surely praying for 3 points at Stamford Bridge. The opponent should make it quite easy for Portuguese coach as Bolton will play without a few important players. Sordell, Alonso, Gardner, Davis, Holden, Davies and Chung-Yong are all injured. Should be quite easy for Chelsea so a win with 1.28 from Unibet

Newcastle – Wolves

After a heavy beating in London against Tottenham Newcastle is now coming back home and will fight hard to improve their performance in front of their own fans. Wolves are not in top form and the coach changes are never good for teams in middle of their season. Hard to expect Wolves to get anything out of this fixture. Newcastle to win with 1.57 from bet365

Manchester City – Blackburn

It’s not going that easy for Citizens in their Championship campaign. The local rivals are pushing them hard from 2nd place and in addition to that they had a hard Europa League game against FC Porto.

But Roberto Mancini has a strong team with a wide bench. Another addition to this bench will be Carlos Tevez. A likely come back for Argentinian international might be very helpful for the remaining part of this season.

Blackburn is fighting its relegation battle. Last win against QPR gave another very important 3 points but now it will be much harder and I’m not expecting points for quests in this match. City to win with 1.80 from Unibet

English Europa League Betting

European football is coming back this week with plenty of betting action from all companies. We won’t be writing obvious and usual betting opportunities but rather focus on some interesting special bets.

And bet365 is offering one of those for all English team progress in Europa League. The Stoke based giant make it 5.50 for Man City, Man Utd and Stoke City to get through.

bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth said: “Both Manchester clubs have had their backers since entering the Europa League and they’re expected to make the last 16 while Stoke, although clear second favourites to progress, will ask plenty of questions of Valencia.”

Carling Cup: Liverpool – Manchester City (25/01/2012)

It’s time to come back to Carling Cup semi finals with an exciting game between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield Road.

The Reds have won the first one in Manchester after Steven Gerrard’s penalty goal. However they are still far away from getting into the final as Citizens are surely on form and a league win over Tottenham at the weekend has just made their morale better.

Liverpool can’t be that happy with their weekend result as the surprisingly lost to Bolton 1:3. This loss means that The Reds are now on 7th position in the table and winning in Cup might be their only way to Europe for next season. City doesn’t have such problems. They’re leading the table and even if they don’t win the league they can be quite sure of their Champions League qualification.

With this in mind Liverpool has more to play for. No major injury concerns in both teams. Liverpool will have to play without Suarez, who is still banned and Citizens won’t be able to use Toure brothers, who traveled to African Cup of Nations.

Carling Cup: Manchester City – Liverpool (11/01/2012)

After a controversial loss against Manchester United in FA Cup Citizens are facing another decisive game in their domestic cups campaign this time against Liverpool FC in Carling Cup.

Both teams met at Etihad Stadium just last week in their Premier League game. Citizens left no chances to the Reds winning 3:0 after goals from Aguero, Toure and Milner. But even such a win doesn’t necessarily mean that Liverpool has no chances against City.

Roberto Mancini will have some problems with his starting line up. After a red card against United Vincent Kompany is not available as is Kolo and Yaya Toure who have already travelled for African Cup of Nations. The good news for Citizens is the come back of Edin Dzeko.

Liverpool will need to play without Luis Suarez who is serving an eight games ban. This means that their attack will heavily depend on Andy Carroll.

Man City should take advantage of playing at home and get a win here before going for the second game to Anfield Road.

Man City to win with 2.00 from Ladbrokes

England FA Cup: Manchester City – Manchester United

We will be enjoying another Manchester derby this weekend with the FA Cup game between City and United. And it means that one of those teams will loose the chance to get at least one of the trophies this season.

We all remember the heavy beating given by Citizens to Sir Alex Ferguson guys. A 6:1 win is surely in mind of the Red Devils and they will try hard to come back from such a bad result. However it will be extremely hard. United are not in their top form, what was confirmed in their last Premier League game which they lost 0:3 at Newcastle. The week began much better for Citizens with the win over Liverpool.

City will also be favorites to get to the next stage of competition. And I do think they will qualify. City to win with 2.15 from Expekt

Premier League: Manchester City – Liverpool (03/01/2012)

We’ve seen some shocking results in Premier League during the Christmas break and now we might as well enjoy one of the most interesting fixtures of the season.

Manchester City is not that untouchable as we might though we weeks ago. Defeats against Chelsea and Sunderland and a draw against West Brom means shows that we might be talking about quite serious crisis in Roberto Mancini’s team. But on the other hand a solid win over Liverpool would make it much different.

The Reds are also not in their top form. They did beat Newcastle in their last game and a goal from Steven Gerrard is even better sign for this team but when you look into previous games you would see draws against Blackburn and Wigan, which are surely not making Daglish site proud.

Still Liverpool has the best defense in the league that lost only 15 goals so far. If they manage to keep such strikers like Aguero and Dzeko under control a win in Manchester would surely make a great start of the year.

Citizens haven’t yet lost at home this season and I don’t think they will this time. A draw is more likely, but my pick would be both teams to score with some decent odds from Paddy Power.

Premier League: Sunderland – Manchester City (01/01/2012)

One of the first games of Premier League in 2012. After getting a disappointing draw in their last game against West Brom Citizens need a win to stay on the top spot in the table.

Sunderland is on 16th place and surely not having their best season. Getting 4 points in their last 2 games is a big improvement for them but it’s not very likely they will get anything more against City.

Manchester has almost their strongest squad at disposal, only without Kolarov. Sunderland has more injury problems with Gordon, Angeleri, Mignolet, Campbell and Turner out.

Citizens are hot favorites to win the game and they will surely fight hard for all 3 points feeling the breath of their local rivals in their championship race.

Man City to win with 1.50 from bet-at-home

Champions League: Man City – Bayern (07/12/2011)

Bayern has already secured the first place in this group with Man City fighting Napoli for the second spot. Citizens need a win but even that can also not be enough to qualify.

Both teams are in good shape. Manchester won their last Premier League game against Norwich 5:1, while Bayern beat Werder 4:1. Both are leading the tables in their domestic leagues, but Bayern has it a bit more difficult as they are only a point ahead of Dortmund, while Citizens has impressive 5 points lead over local rivals – United.

Germans have nothing to play for and they will surely not bet 100% focused on this one. This gives a big chance to Citizens. They have a big chance to win, but still it might not be enough to qualify.

Man City to win with 1.67 from 888

Premier League: Man City – Newcastle 19/11/2011

Time to look into the Premier League schedule for next round. The game that gets my attention is Newcastle visit at Manchester to face Citizens.

Both teams are definitely among the best offensive teams in the league. Only one game out of their last ten ended with less than 2,5 goals, with all games of Man City finishing with at least 3 goals scored.

City are of course favorite to win this one and it would be a big surprise if they loose points against Newcastle. The quests have a very decent team but their defense is just not good enough to face the likes of Aguero, Dzeko or Silva.
